Maybe Joe Skipp will weigh in here.  He has some great strategies for ground hunting and a great guy.

Do a search, there have been many threads.

I like shoot through holes on ground blinds. I killed my biggest buck out of this blind at 8 yards.

I killed a buck out of this one as well at 4 yards. There was a pushed up dirt hump on the edge of the food plot, I dug out a level place behind it to place my chair

Here is a view over the top of the blind, it was on a food plot.

I made 4 shooing holes in the above blind, here is one of them.

I've hunted on the ground 95% of the time since 1975. Sold all my stands about 7 years ago.
Here in south Alabama most folks look at you funny when you tell them you bowhunt on the ground.
Nothing wrong with treestands but I've never liked heights, plus, it's a lot warmer on the ground and a lot less hassle.
Down here the deer look up for danger more than on the ground.

Sitting on my stool in a ghillie suit last October, had this guy come within 4 yards. Passed up the shot hoping for a bigger one, still kicking myself for that decision.

Had a doe come by about 15 mins after I sat down. Too bad this was a pig only area. Still fun, though.

I started hunting from the ground, and killed a 8 point buck at 11 yards, home-made blind, sitting on a 5 gallon bucket. I think I'll stick with it.    :coffee:

I love ground hunting. I have had a blast since I switched a couple years ago and have been lucky enough to take a few deer doing it.

i've only ever hunted from a treestand once, didn't like it. but got a question for the rest of the ground hunters, how far into the woods do you generally go and sit? i for some reason always seems to hike an hour or 2 or 3 to get where i'm going to set up. makes for a long haul out in the mountains i play in.

Either a spot 360, hammock seat, or knee pads depending on the situation.

Just need to cover them white whiskers
