AD Trad lites will get you 9.8 gr. per inch and AD Hammerhead lites will get you 11.5 gpi.

For the Trad Lites cut to 29.5 would give you a shaft weighing 289.1 gr, add fletch, nock, and 50 gr insert would give you around 400 gr. add point weight and you would be right at what you want to shoot.

The Hammerhead lites cut to 29.5 would give you a shaft weighing 339.5 gr. so with fletch, nock and a 50 gr insert would give you around 489 gr so with point you would be a bit over 10 gr per #

That's the same setup I hunted with last year.  I shot Easton Axis 500 shafts cut to 29 inches and used a 200 grain VPA head.

For my practice arrows I shot the same length shaft but set them up with 50 grain brass inserts and 9/32 145 grain tips.  That way their easy to remove from a bag target.

Danny, can u be a little more specific??  LOL!  I have 3 DZ AD Lites and Hammerheads.  Having trouble getting them to tune correctly.  You may just end up with all of them:)  Im hooked on my ACC ProHunters and my Easton Hexx!

Keith,

I mostly shoot the AD Trads, 30.5" with 100 gr brass insert and 250 to 300 grain points out of my 55-60# bows. I have one set of AD Trad Lites for "NAKOHE" set up the same. I can also shoot the AD Hammerheads set up the same way out of my other bows. For some reason "NAKOHE" just prefers the Trad Lites even though it as 55#.

Im getting with Gary at Denton Hill to see what I can do with them.  What do you do for points of same diameter as the shaft?

My 300 gr field points come from 3 Rivers and they are pretty close to the same diameter as the shaft. What is your true draw length? I draw 29" and a 30.5" shaft is what works for me.

Are you bareshafting? I know a lot of guys have fits with the AD shafts trying to bare shaft. Ted Fry says they are not condusive to bareshafting, don't know as I do not bare shaft. I know the length I need and the point weight I need and just get the arrows made and go from there adjusting point weight for the particular bow until I have good flight.

No.  I dont bare shaft.  I draw almost 30" and settle at 29.5".  2 dz are 30".  1 dz is 29.5" I think.  Even with my 300 gr points they are showing stiff out of my heavier bows...even the 62# Slynx.  I have several loaded with 200 gr points as well.  Gary and I will do some testing next week at Denton Hill.

The Slynx really liked the AD Trads, never shot the Trad lites out of it or the Hammerheads.

If you are drawing almost 30 you may need the shafts to be 31"

Could go with either 35/55 or 55/75.

If you like to cut your arrows short, use a lighter tip and use heavy rubber silencers you could get away with the 35/55 and tune the bow to make them work.

If your a 3 under shooter, like to leave your arrows longer and have wool silencers on the string you may end up with 55/75's.

Here's what I found. My current tip is 47 lbs at my draw of 26.5 (I'm shooting lefty now and have shortened up a bit).  I have a 12 strand dyna 97 string with one set of heavy rubber silencers.  I can shoot 35/55's cut to 27 1/4 inches with a 200 grain tip.

If I go to 55/75's I have to leave my arrows 28.5 inches long and use a 175 grain tip to get good flight.  Both of these arrows setup in this manner should get you to the 10 grains per pound that you're looking for.

I did mention shooting 3 under....I've found shooting 3 under can require a slightly stiffer shaft.

Every bow is different and we all have different releases so you really need to grab one of each arrow and start doing some bare shafting.  I'm in southern Chester County and would be happy to help you if you care to make the trip down.  I have just about every bare shaft on hand with most of each also fletched.  It would take long to get you squared away.
