Ground blind with a floor
« on: July 10, 2014, 09:52:00 PM »
Looking for a ground blind with a floor , or a idea on how to keep the snakes out of one you  leave it up over night. I live in AZ and HATE snakes , but in joy hunting from the ground. Let me know if you have seen or heard of one with a floor.

Pretty sure Ameristep has some with a floor. My father in law has one he uses turkey hunting. Won't use it for anything else though. It's a little noisy...

Not a big fan of snakes myself, but are you sure a floor will keep snakes out?

My take is the floor would not matter much in aiding the snake issues and be noisy as mentioned.

I would probably work on making brush blinds, which are very effective and being open (on top) thus not providing shade for the reptiles to crawl into to seek shade..

Just make it a practice to look carefully inside the tent before you step in.  You can also have someone sew on a 10" ground cloth and when you set it up, bury the ground cloth under sand or dirt.

I usually carry in a 3 or 4 ft sq piece of light indoor outdoor carpet to lay on the ground to keep things quieter under foot.

Have you considered repellent?  There are products out there that disrupt a snakes senses and causes them to leave an area.

Get a pet mongoose and leave him in the blind when you're not there?...    :dunno:
