First 25 arrows after total knee replacement
« on: July 12, 2014, 06:07:00 PM »
Good to be shootin again after surgery! Don't realize how you miss it   until you can't do it. Been 17 days with out. Makes you realize how much shooting is done with mind. Knee is still sore but I can see the light now. Hope to have everything working by Sept.
I have a good smooth path to my target so it should be good for me.
God blessed me with a great wife and kids and archery to help me thru times like these but sometimes you forget just how  lucky you are.

Chuck,
I have an arthritic left knee and right hip vying to determine which will be replaced first.  Thought it was going to be the hip, which everybody that's had both done tells me is the quicker rehab, but the knee has know taken a commanding lead, lol. I'm buying time until Nov-Dec (after deer season) with injections and anti-inflammatories. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but she just doesn't understand manly priorities.  How much time am I looking at to get back on it?

Glad you are on the mend. I have a friend who had a knee replacement last year. It was pretty rough for a couple of months, but she toughed it out with the rehab and is now doing very well.  Just keep on shooting.

Chuck, hang in there buddy. I had a total knee replacement
About 1 1/2 yr. ago, it's gonna get worse before it gets better, but it will get better. I had a great Wife to help me through it, couldn't have done it without her. Near 100% now can do
Just about what I want.
  Good luck to you.

Feels good, doesn't it? I just got back to shooting after breaking my pelvis in three places. Surprisingly shooting well.

I had my knee replaced @ 42 in Dec of 2008, it was 3 years before it was totally healed. I was back to work in 9 weeks.
Had hip replaced in May 2012, went back to work in 6 weeks. Have had trouble off & on. The cup in my pelvis failed to seat, had surgery July 2nd to replace the cup. Hope to be elk hunting by Sept. Was shooting my new Raptor longbow tonight and was ok for being off a couple weeks. Good luck in your recovery!!  Scott.

:clapper:     :clapper:   it will keep getting better ...

I had a total ankle replacement in May and I'm just back on my feet now for the last two weeks. You have to be non weight baring for 6-7 weeks so it has been a long while since I shot my bows. I hope to be hunting in Sept !!

I am looking to have my right knee done this year, keep putting it off. I am going to try and hold off until December if possible.

I love to see these threads.  Glad to hear you are back shooting Chuck.

I just had my knee scoped on the 9th.  It was a mess in there and I am a candidate for at least a partial replacement in the future.

I messed around with anti inflammatories and tried the shot too just hoping to get through the hunting seasons.  Obviously that didn't work.  I agree about priorities.   :)   I burned my preference points for elk in Wyoming and I was going bad knee or not.

Keep doing your PT as that is so important. I had my knee replaced, hip replaced and back fusion over a 18 month period. Missed one bow season but i am heading to Canada for a moose hunt this fall. Back is still hurting but the knee is 100% .Your past the worst of it by now. Good Luck
