long draw-low weight arrow choice
« on: July 30, 2014, 04:12:00 PM »
shooting lights out with a 43# @ 31" hummingbird with 55# woodies and 125g heads.

i'm not real good or fast a making a set of wood arrows so i'd like to have a backup set of carbon or aluminum to keep my woodies in good shape.

all of the carbons are too short(that i've found) unless i front load some stiff ones and i don't care to do that. i haven't shot aluminm very much but was think about 2016's...

any other opinions?

Carbon Express Maxima line of arrows are 33" long, even the 150's(.505 spine) but are expensive.AD Trad Lite's are around 32-33" I believe. You might look into these for longer carbon arrows in lighter spines.

Gold Tip Trad Blems from Big Jim. 35/55 are now 32" instead of 30". Full length should get you between 10 to 11 grains per pound with standard inserts and 125 gr heads.

The heritage shafts that would work for spine would be 30"s and wouldn't work. I would think that the 3555's would do the trick now that they are 32"s. Not the case with all the 3555's just the trads.

thanks, bigjim
