Canvas tent repair
« on: August 01, 2014, 03:03:00 PM »
Hey guys, I have a 10x13 Snowtrekker EXP Basecamp tent. I love this thing to death and it has been great.  I brought it out today to look some things over and remembered that it has some small holes on either side of the ridge pole.  I hunt in areas with a lot of wind and it has taken its toll on the high wear areas.  The holes are not any bigger than a penny.  I was wondering if barge cement with some cordura would be a good idea, but open to hearing any ideas you guys have.  Thanks.

Barge cement or contact cement.  Best to use a canvas similar to the tent material.  Now, here is the way the Army does it;  cement both sides of your patch and let it sit a bit, put it together on a flat surface and pound it together with a rubber hammer.  Stitch it if you can.  You can do a lock stitch on it like it was leather.  Tandy sells the lock stitching tool.

I'd think monterey's got the right idea. I'd make the patch bigger than what I need, and sew a couple of lines in it. One just outside of the hole, one just inside of the edge of the patch. Maybe one between just in case. So if you have a penny sized hole make a quarter sized or half dollar sized patch, glue and stitch it.

Ask the company that made it.  I have a canvas tent  and the maker sent me a repair kit with the recommendations on how
