Losing brace height?

I've had an SBD on my Widow for several months now, hundreds of shots. I still find that I slowly lose brace height. Is this normal?

Call or email Pierre at SBD and talk to him. He really stands behind his strings.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the string. It shoots great, and I really like it. I just noticed that every couple of weeks I seem to lose about a 1/4" of brace. I leave my bow strung most of the time, if that makes a difference....

This might be an issue, I would at least email SBD and ask. I have had Flemish strings unravel before. Never Any I have bought from SBD, it never hurts to ask a supplier about their product. If it does move on.

I'm no expert, but every string i've ever had until I get it broke in all the way has lost brace height. I twist it up a few times and once it finally gets broke in and I leave it strung then there is little to no brace height change.

About how many shot does that normally take, Alexander? I would guess I have at least 500 on mine...
I'm going to measure it real close, and then shoot for two weeks and re-measure to double check.

There should be no stretch in that string especially after that many shots.
The only room for movement would be if,you unstrung it and it lost a twist or two.
Since you leave it strung, that leave as,slippage in the twists of the Flemmish splice.
Call SBD they won't be offended.

Kyle I get most of my strings from Josh Sowersby. It doesn't take many shots I might have to twist a string up the first two or three times of shooting it,after that unless I unstring it,it usually stays put. Is it a skinny string? I had my first one on a new bow I got. I like the sting, but it seems to take longer to settle in even with the low stretch material.

I'd contact Pierre on that one. I run SBD strings on all my bows and the one and only time I had something similar happen was when I took a 56" recurve string and twisted it down to fit a 54" recurve. It took forever to finally settle in and stop creeping. Never had a creep problem with his 8 strand strings when the finished string length was close to the actual braced string length and they needed minimal twisting to get the desired brace.

You've had it on for several months and 100's of shots. Not normal to still be moving. Get a hold of SBD they will want to know and take care of you.

Kyle,
This is not typical of our strings...give a call so we can discuss.
Thanks and God bless, Pierre

I use SBD strings on all of my bows and they are excellent quality, but the occasional oddity will happen and you could have one that is misbehaving. Pierre will make it right and he might want to see your string so he can analyze the issue. Do call him. He is a great guy and will help you out on this.
