Suoerglue with roughed up surfaces works for me.  Just rought hem up with some sandpaper first and clamp it on the snug, not too tight.

Has anyone had a tip overlay ever come off? (I'm talking selfbows or bbo)

The reason I ask is that I have seen or heard of overlays glued on with every bow-making glue and I've never heard of one coming off so it must not make a lot of difference. I use whatever I have available but like epoxy or superglue.

I've repaired close to a half-dozen bows for others in which the limb tip overlay came off.  I generally use an epoxy to glue on a new one.

I have been using thick CA for a number of years with 0 failures. (knock on wood) I think the key is ruffing up the glue sufaces well. I use a jig saw metal cutting blade to do that. Here is a pic of a riser glue up that I used epoxy on but you can get the idea.

I've used both and they both will work, but I think Smooth on was a good choice Stan.  Smooth on leaves a nicer fade in from the glass to the overlay.
