Nov Ohio Bowhunt
« on: August 27, 2014, 08:38:00 AM »
I will be heading to S/W Central Ohio 2nd week in November... was curious what extremes I can expect as far as weather.  Been a while since this TX boy hunting that far North and need to make some clothing selections.  Thanks

Pick a nearby city, go on a search engine and enter: average monthly temperatures for "that city". Average highs and lows will be given, often with the month shown as a calendar and average daily highs and lows indicated by a graph line.

Thanks - that helps.  Looks like merino wool with fleece on top should work.

I hunt that area of Ohio some years and live next door in Indiana.  Temps are hard to predict this far out.  It could honestly be in the 50's or 30's or zero.  Sometimes cold sets in early but I would expect little or no so with say 40 degrees in morning and little warmer in the day?   The key is layers or you van adapt.  One heavy outer layer and plenty of next to skin and mid-insulation layers and your prepared for anything.  Also check 10 day forecast before you pack.  If it does get a cold snap key is good heavy wool socks and hand warmers for hands but 1 or 2 placed under mid layer over your heart, it works.

Your heading to big buck country!!

Count on it being between 20*----65*  during the day, and sunny --SNOWY*---monsoon with the skies  ;)

Pack accordingly ..........

I will be in Jackson County the same Nov. 2-7th. I have been the last 4 years and usually have a pretty broad range of temps, but it has been amazing every year! Good Hunting!!!

I live in the SE tip (Jackson)
You'll probably experience 30's mornings and possibly 60's in the afternoon.

Id pack a range of clothing to swing either way, as that week all Walmarts are sold out of everything.

Bring it all. Last year 2nd week in southern ohio was mid 80's Sunday thru Tuesday, then cold front came through, down to mid 30's @ night for the rest of the week with sleet & rain all day wednesday. It is what it is but when the cold front hit the bucks were moving!

Yes I would say you could do allright being from Montana. Love that country, been there a few times. Have hunted around Red Lodge up in the Beartooth area, Anaconda around the Pegasus gold mine area and north of Missoula. Loved them all. Yes it gets plenty cold.

I was in southern Ohio last November. It snowed on the 13th?? I tagged out (buck) on the 11th and happily slept in the next couple of days..When visiting my friends place in November I take everything from 1600 gram snow boots and windproof cloths down to my 400 gram insulated  boots and light weight Rocky camo pants and pullover shirts. I wear fleece gloves and my Coups Cap too.

Usually don't get a good snow until after or around Thanksgiving, but not uncommon to get a skid of snow as early as Veteran's Day. Can vividly remember tracking and chasing rutting bucks in snow on Veteran's Day.... Then again can remember it seemingly raining hard daily for 2 solid weeks in November, but also remember many Indian Summer days....

What's the Farmers Almanac say ...      :)      Seriously, its usually more right than wrong... Heard it's suppose to be a colder than normal winter, much like last winter...

Although rare, few years ago, temperatures even dropped down into the teens, but reguardless, about the second week of Novenmber is when temperatures start to really drop overnight, and you know your Indian Summer and or fall is gone, or about over...
