Bow Hush questions

I just received my Bow Hush and Hush Puppies from Terry. Will it work as well on my LB as my recurve?
And how far from the tips should it be installed? My LB is 68", my recurve is 60".

Brian,

The Hush Puppies will work well on your longbow, the bow hush is made for recurves because the string lays against the limbs, it does not lay against the limbs on a longbow. Normally installing the hush puppies at the 1/4 points on the string is the ticket, measure the string from where it first contacts the limbs, so lets say your measurement is 57" divide that by 4 which would be 14.25" so you would place the puppies at 14.25" from the point the string touches the limb on each end of the bow. I would take the puppie and count the number of strings in it, then split it in half, you do not need the entire puppy on each end of the bow, so one puppy would be enough split in half. Just saying how they work for me.

I have been using hush puppies for several years and every bow I have built has a set of puppies.Follow the directions and use some wax in the center of the puppy before putting between string. Always trim them and do not pull any strands that stick out. g

On some radical longbow limbws you can get a little string slap - in those cases a little bow hush a couple inches down the strings takes care of that just like it does on recurves.  At least I do that on a few of my reflex/deflex bows.

They're on. I followed the directions. Didn't put any wax on the puppy, but did wax the heck out of the string before putting them on. I'll shoot it tomorrow after the string twist sets. Hopefully it will be much quieter.

Hush will help on extreme hybrids. It made a difference on a Thunder child I had.

Wow, my LB is super quiet now. First couple shots hit low, kinda felt like less energy, but once I warmed up, shots were back on. Seemed strange not hearing the twang.
