4-Fletch / Brush Rest / Firefly TD / Special Lady
« on: September 07, 2014, 11:25:00 PM »
In light of the recent threads about 4 fletch, building arrows to match bows and other fun topics, I thought I'd post up pics of the 4 fletched arrows I built up yesterday for a special Jim Jones Firefly takedown longbow I have.

The Bow: "Sweet Bonnie Hancock"...  My Aussie Grandmother passed away earlier this year in her mid-nineties. One of my favorite memories of her was when she visited us in Maryland in the early 80's. Being from Australia, she had never seen Fireflies before and the timing was perfect, they were out in droves. We caught some in jars and she was in Awe. It was a special time for us.

A couple years ago, I found this Firefly on TGang and Jim made me up a set of longbow limbs for this bow that shoot Great. I asked Jim if he would mind adding a name to the bow in honor of my Grandmother and he agreed, so I asked he put "Sweet Bonnie Hancock" on the riser for me. This bow will not be sold and someday will go to my nephew who was the youngest member of the family to ever meet her. I told him today and I think he was moved by the gesture.

The Arrows:  This bow needed some special arrows, so I contacted Onestringer and ordered some custom fade wraps to replicate the flash of a Firefly. Adding custom chopped "Sting" feathers out of my chopper, flo. yellow nocks and green thread yesterday finalized the special arrows needed for this special bow.

The Rest:  I've had good luck with brush rests from Black Widow recently, so today, I installed one onto this Firely. After a couple pics, I adjusted the nock height for 3 under and the bow is sending arrows straight and clean to the target. An added benefit is the bow is quieter now as well (something I've noticed with the other bows I've added a brush rest to).

Pics...

Just thought I'd share and if you've been thinking about trying a Firefly, Brush Rest or 4 Fletch, try them all!!!
