10/10
Sent the kids off to school, and thought I would hustle over to my buddy's house for a late morning into early afternoon hunt. On the way, I was passing a place I have been wanting to sit, and there were deer entering the woods!

I passed by and pulled into a turnout just up the road. This area gets a lot of pressure, but I always see deer around this place.

I grabbed some gear from the car and snuck into the woods above where I saw the deer. The excitement must have had me walking too fast. About 75 yards in, I bump 2 deer.
The deer were not too spooked, so I waited a bit, then continued deeper in the woods.

I come across a slight ridge that tapers off into a thicket with lots of trails and sign. Taking a moment to look over the area, I decide to grab a tree along the edge of some barberry.

I'm hoping things will settle and some deer will move through the surrounding browse.

I wasn't there more than 30 minutes, and I hear something to my right.
I can see deer through the barberry browsing their way toward me! I'm psyched that things are going so well.

2 small does cut into the brush just to my right, and feed behind me about 5 yards away. They bed down just off my right and behind me so I can see them out of my peripheral vision.

So, I sit. I can't move.

After an hour, they finally get up, but move off behind me never offering a shot. It was way too thick to think of going after them.     :banghead:

I detoured a little heading back out. I stopped by this trout stream that usually has a lot more water running. It has been pretty dry here since summer.

Well, I hope tomorrow is another adventure.

I thought  that looked familiar   Is that the trout stream that runs into the little flatbrook?   I hunt the same area  from the gap to wallpac. Beautiful  area. Good luck Jerry  . They will be running soon.

More action this morning. Big doe with two yearlings. Came through some thick birch saplings moving cautiously. They were too far out, so I got up and cut the distance in half. By then they were moving into some heavier cover. One of the young deer ventured my way but wouldn't get past a couple trees blocking me. Finally turned to catch up with the others. Fun stuff.
