A poem that came to me last night
« on: September 27, 2007, 03:28:00 PM »
Howdy my Tradgang Brothers! Last night I was so stirred up about the fast approaching archery season I couldn't sleep.  I hunted a huge 10pt last year and had two very close encounters with him within 10yds once and 20yds the second time and I get excited just thinking about it.  I am NOT a poet or writer but this sort of came over me and I decided to share it with you my stick bow brothers.

Cold Sweat

It is hard to believe another year has already past
As I get older, time seems to fly by so fast
It’s the first morning archery hunt of the year
I hurry to my stand without any haste
As the cool moist morning air
Brushing against my face
I settle into my stand
It’s half past five
And my senses feel so alive
Suddenly from nowhere he appears
This awesome buck I hunted hard last year
A 150, 160, maybe even a 170 class deer
For a brief moment I sat there in awe
At the majesty, beauty and disbelief of it all
My heart pounding firmly against my chest
I drew my Morrison Shawnee from its state of rest
The string was loaded with a cedar from Paul Jalon
Tipped with a Wensel Woodsman it would soon be gone
I smoothly drew the string back
It was taught without any slack
To the corner of my mouth
Where my middle finger was about to rest
Then suddenly…..
Would I missed, would he duck
Oh my, what if my release was a pluck!
Just as I settled in on my spot
I began to loose the string
And just like that he was mysteriously gone
A cold streak ran down my back
A bead of sweat ran down my face
Suddenly I sat up in bed
I was awake!
My fellow Stick Shooter
The season is almost here, in the Lone Star State
I can hardly control myself
I can hardly wait!

Nice poem.

You had me a little worried what you were going to use to rhyme with "duck"!
