Eland Bowhunt
« on: September 24, 2014, 11:19:00 AM »
I am back in the world after being AWOL for a bit. It has been a crazy summer and bowfishing and gator hunting has kept me so very busy (and exhausted). I never really got a chance to report on hunting Namibia with my son but we sure did have a great time. He spent a good deal of the summer there assisting a PH and had the adventure of a lifetime. The hunting conditions were very difficult by Namibia standards. There was a LOT of moisture in the soil and plants and animals simply did not have to move much for food and water was available in natural lakes. This made bowhunting very difficult.  It did not, however, dampen the fun that we had. We still were able to have success but we earned every single animal for sure.

Here is a video of a hunt for cow eland. I hope you enjoy it.

My bow for this hunt was my brand spanking new Black Widow PSAX. It is a 52# bow and the arrows are 560 grains.  I did want to give a big public thank you to a Trad Gang sponsor. The guys at Bradger Broadheads set us up and I can tell you that these broadheads flat out performed on animals up to 3,500 pounds.

Im glad you posted this. I have often thought about whether my bow would do it on an eland, and now I know the answer! Thank you.

Congrats on a fine critter!

It is a camera mount made from a chopped down bowsight bracket.
