Dampening Noise In A Grizzly
« on: October 01, 2014, 08:30:00 PM »
Still working the new bow and the string seems to still be stretching out.  I adjusted the brace height up to 8 1/4" from 7 3/4" and it did make some difference but I am getting some limb slap and a little string vibe.  I installed some beaver balls and am contemplating limb savers or maybe moleskin on the limb/string contact areas.

Compared to the Montana LB it is pretty loud so...

I don't have arrow and shelf contact issues as they seem to be flying very well as long as my release is clean, lol.  The whole sensitivity to technique thing is a little frustrating sometimes though.

Any ideas?

Try bow hush or wool yarn wraped around the top and bottom string.  There a thread on hear showing you how.

My Grizzly Bows are Quiet. I use yarn on the strings and arrows that are 10 ggp. that's it.

I have a mid 70's Grizzly and its very quiet.  I put some velcro on the upper limb to help with a little string slap, and Cat Wiskers - 2 sets.

Its actually the quietest bow I have.
An archer tries to find ways to shoot further more accurately, a bowhunter tries to get as close as possible to ensure his shot is accurate.

Keep increasing the brace height until it is quiet. Don't be surprised if you get all the way up past 8.5" - to even 9" - some Grizz bows need a brace height like that to be at their best (I had one like that). They are each a little different. Once you have it quiet it will be an easy bow to love shooting.

Actually just posted on here a couple weeks ago with the same issue on my super grizzly. Ended up taking the brace height all the way up to 8 1/2 in and running beaver balls and bow hush yarn on the string.   Made a world of difference.

Are you shooting 3-under???

This is one thing folks seem to forget... Tiller.

Simple fix though... Usualy raising your nock point about 1/8th inch, will quiet it right down.
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

My 70's Grizzly with b-50 is quiet at 8 1/2"
As smokin joe said, dont be afraid to go higher if you draw 28 plus inches.
