Green Swamp WMA
« on: October 13, 2014, 04:15:00 PM »
Does anyone know how to get to Green Swamp from Orlando?  The directions are difficult to understand and I need to know how to get to a check in station.  Season starts this weekend out there and I've not hunted it before.

Head west on hwy 50 and take a left on hwy 471 at Tarrytown and go 19.5 miles till you cross the first little hump in the road. It'll be a little overpass where a dirt road from Greenswamp East goes under 471 to Greenswamp West. Take a left at the Greenswamp WMA sign right on the other side of hump.

No problem Adam, my season has been dismal so far..few deer and lots of rain.

Greenswamp has two entrances the one I gave you directions on hwy 471 and one on Rockridge Rd..it's more difficult to get to with lots of turns, etc.

according to the map on the fwc web site tillman rd is closed for repairs anyway, so 471 is the only option for now...

Thanks fellas. Mine hasn't been stellar either. I've been hunting up in GA mostly, but haven't had a shot yet. Almost had a doe a couple weeks ago on the ground and I almost had a shot at some turkeys from a stand, but almost is the key word. If I had a shotgun I couldve taken either, but that's the glory of bow hunting, especially traditional. It's still early in the season though so I'm sure we'll all do better. It's still a great day in the woods either way.
