Why does it seem so hard to hit dots,  when practicing. . Yet I can successfully hit my 3d deer target in the hot spot consistently out to 20 yards...but dots are another story

aim small , miss small.  Aim for the center of the dot, not the whole dot.

I think. . . .

Correct, the size of your target NEVER changes, it's always the center of the center. Try having only 1 bright colored dot visible on a dark background and try that for awhile.

This was from 20 yards shooting at a 12 guage hull supported on the end of a stick. Shooting at a tiny spot can really help!

Problem I have is hereabouts only the really tiny deer have dots.
