nock point string wear
« on: October 15, 2014, 07:50:00 AM »
I shoot an SBD 6 strand with Gold Tips.  The serving was perfect when received for this nock.  After shooting for several months the serving has worn down where the nock fits on the string.  What do you do to build this back up?  I have crimped the nocks a bit for my broadheads for a temporary fix for hunting.  Any suggestions?

I have this with all my strings I ever used. Adding some thin serving like dental floss on the place where it is worn is how I solve this.
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

All my strings get like that, but I notice that once it reaches a certain point, it stops, and I never worry about it.  Generally, the nocks are just a tad tight on a new string, then after the string breaks in they fit just right and it doesn't get worse.  I have a string or two that are over four years old that have been shot thousands of times and the wear has never gotten any worse, that I can see.
