New Zealand Hunt
« on: September 29, 2007, 12:57:00 AM »
Well seeing that I missed my annual elk hunt I went on a red deer hunt in NZ. Took the family and had a great time. Its a remote cabin(two hour jeep ride)in to the headwaters of a big river full of big rainbow trout. Spent two days hunting mornings and evenings and saw alot of deer, had some great stalks that just didn't pan out but close to several stags (15 yds). I did however manage to get a couple of goats which were harder to stalk than I though they would be and try out my new KOTA recurve, great bow.The trip was very affordable and gave me and my family lots of memories that wont be forgoten.

Dannys prices are great,It's a place called Go Bush. gobush.co.nz it is a guided hunt but very relaxed. It's up to you if you want to hunt you hunt, if you want to fish or relax than that's what you do, It's only $100 a day, can't beat that.

Great to hear you had a good time Jake.
You guys all look very "at home" with the mountains in the back ground.
Congrats on your first kiwi goats.

My wife and I are going to be there on a red stag hunt in March of 09. Got a terrific deal at a Safari Club banquet. (last hunt of the evening and no one wanted it). I can't wait. The hunt is 7 days but I think we will stay 2 weeks and do some fishing and some sightseeing. If anyone has reccomendations, let me know.
