Took a break from deer, went for pheasants
« on: November 01, 2014, 10:54:00 AM »
Took my 11 year old son for pheasant, everyone else had shotguns, we had a longbow and recurve.
Had a blast!  Saw birds, chased birds, got a shot off but no meat today.
Needed a break from sitting in a tree.
Good memories made this morning!

Good for you! Running rabbits and rising pheasants are mostly frustration, pure joy when you connect, but fun every time. That's the best thing an 11 yo can take away from hunting.

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

Pheasant hunting with a stickbow is awesome fun! I can't wait till I get another crack at them. I have been 3 times and gotten one bird out of the air!

I really enjoy small game hunting with traditional gear. Getting a bird with a stick bow always makes me feel like davy crockett, especially if everyone else in the group is gun hunting.
