if you're truly looking for STRAIGHT edges..

Either Abowyer Large bonehead 1 1/2"..may be too heavy.

Or magnus classic in the 1 1/2 width ( not sure what that model is called)

Or Zwickey delta at 1 3/8"

I don't care for the zephyr..the stainless is too soft and doesn't keep an edge very well.

All the other wide heads I can think of are not straight edges...either concave or convex

Check out Mike Palmer's "Extreme Cut" broad heads. They are made by Muzzy for him and are a larger version of the Phantom broad head. I'm hopefully going to shoot a deer this year with them.

I use the Abowyer Boneheads for exactly the reason you are switching. I have tried the Zephyrs and my experience is they dont hold an edge and whistle in flight. I sharpen my  Boneheads on a Worksharp wheel and they get sharper than anything I have ever seen and hold the edge well. They are expensive but  I have used the same 3 heads for 5 years now and have killed a a bunch of critters.

Lot's of good ideas...AND for sharpening your Simmons, the Centaur Archery sharpening system does an excellent job - fast - on these.  It also is  an excellent general purpose sharpening system.

I use the Centaur Battle Axe on deer and bear and they are excellent, but you will have the same issues as your Simmons.

Jim also has a video on his site using the sharpener on his BHs.

Give the Palmer Extreme broadheads a look! They cut Huge holes and are very easy to sharpen. I could stick 4 fingers in the entrance hole of the buck I shot a few days ago. They penetrate well also. And they are one of my most accurate heads. I like them a lot!

Buddy shot this today at a steep angle with a RADA sharpened Simmons head.  Went through heavy bone, severed major artery, bled like it was coming out a fire hose. Died on the spot. Just sayin.

Congrats to your buddy on a nice buck.   Rada just doesn't produce edge I like but obviously it will work.
