Bow Finish option
« on: November 05, 2014, 02:16:00 PM »
Hey folks, I know this would probably be well off on the Bowyers Bench forum, but I think it'd see a little more traffic here so please bear with me. I'm rrefinishing my Grizzly, (I like to shape my handles a little more to my liking) and would like your opinion. the glass is black on it but in some spots its scuffed a little. I always see how Fred's recurves (at least in the later years) have a gloss finish even on the limbs. I like the look and am wondering if anyone had any experience with Spray Lacquer on limbs? I know there are other options and such, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it. I picked up some Rust-oleum Spray Lacquer to do the riser portion and was wondering if it might work to go over the limb glass to clear up the scuffs and make it "pop" so to speak. I use wipe on poly for my arrows but really didn't like it on the bow so I'm considering this route. Any experience?
