Today I was hunting at Ravina woods, a part of morgan monroe.  Three hunters in orange went stomping across the ridge across from me.  I gave a whistle and waved the blue hat that I carry.  They stopped for a bit..........  Then boom, they shot.  I heard the pellots hit the leaves and saw them move within 5 ft of me. Then they quickly ran out of sight.  I didn't have my 44 with me so I quickly hopped to the other side of the ridge and made my way to the truck.
On my way, I hear another shot, then the pellots hitting above me in the trees.
After getting to the truck, I looked for any trucks that I didn't know and found none.
No idea where they came from or what their plan was.  Guess I won't be hunting there any time soon and not anywhere without the 44.

Situations like that are when a smart phone actually comes in handy for once. I would have called the CO and started videoing taping from the opposite side of a tree.

I'm really not looking forward to gun season opening.    :(
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Just commented on another thread where some 3rd party complained about not being able to use (without the owner's permission) the OP's tree stands

And now this?    :scared:   Just speechless at the moment.

I'm not excusing what they did or accusing you of anything but this could have gone very badly.  It it is public land and I don't credit anyone with the brains they need to have to hunt safely.  They could have been hunting many things and it isn't unheard of for people to shoot at movement.  Waving a blue hat isn't the best choice since it can be mistaken for a turkey although they aren't in season right now.  Speak or shout very clearly next time and have an orange cap in your pocket.
Take a kid hunting!
