The e mail did say shop early for the best selections.

I can sympathize with Kuiu's situation as I'm a small business guy...and Kuiu is a small boutique company...they never claimed to be the big guy.

It was an inventory reduction at huge savings first co e first served... limited to in stock items....pretty self explanatory.

My business is choppy- super busy at certain times and fairly dead in others...you just cannot keep everyone happy and sometimes have to do what you can handle. I did get an order in later in the evening...they didn't have everything I wanted...but that was expected. From what I hear, the one retail location was mobbed....

Personally, I'm cutting them some slack and appreciate that they are there to compete with the big companies.

With KUIU even during non-sale periods (99.9% of the time) some things will be out of stock. They simply are not inventory-heavy a majority of the time. I've been buying from them almost since they opened and have come to understand that if you want something from them, you'd better get it when it's available. A sale is a great time to score a deal on something if they have it in stock. I won't address the right/wrong arguments of how they run the sale, but a max-majority of any retail vendor's price-reduction sales are limited to what they have in stock. I'm okay with that.

I had 5 items in my KUIU cart online, and they were all available. Before I could complete the transaction, someone purchased the last available size/color of one of my selections. POOF! Suddenly I had 4 items left to buy. That's part of internet sales...it's anyone's stuff until the money changes hands. I paid for my selections (they were all my #1 choices so got fortunate) and they have shipped with a tracking number.

I missed the "no back orders" sorry....old age, ADHD, but I missed it.

This morning I ordered the 6000 Ultra pack, Guide Beanie and a couple other things which do not appear to be on back-order.  I am hoping that they ship out on Monday.

I know how frustrating it can be. We ordered some made in USA sweatshirts from a small maker/vendor last year. He still owes me one. I gave up. A very good product, well made, but lousy customer service. My items were not on sale either, just not made yet.

They lost me too...  Over the last year I've worked hard and have lost just over 80#.  So, I'm in the market for new gear in the hunting wear department.  I was looking at replacing my Gray Wolf Wool, but it is no longer available in Predator camo...  So, I was looking at Kuiu.  Love the concept, and the reviews I've read about the product.  Been on the site a lot looking at getting the whole line.  Had everything in my "shopping cart" and with the discount I could make it happen with the sale of my bigger Gray Wolf Wool...

Come the day of the start of the sale, most of my items were already on back order...  Don't get me wrong, nothing against the product...  Worth the $'s outright, but if I don't have the cash to make it happen, it can't happen...

So, I went with another company...  It is gear I know, and like and will be happy with.  Plus it was affordable for everything I needed...

I just orders a couple of items without any problem.  The camo colors are mostly backordered but heck I was ordering base layers so who cares what color they are?

Great deal though.

I toss this out as food for thought:

I've seen a number of KUIU items which were NEW and unworn show up on the big E auction site. I have more than a suspicion that a few people are buying stuff on sale and then reselling it for a profit. There is so much demand for it that supply is often exceeded.
