Looking for some info on the area. I am considering a position on Whidbey and am curious on the area. How is the hunting and fishing in that area? I want to hunt mainly with my traditional bows. Thanks for any information.

Beautiful area, just moved from there. Hunting wasn't great, as the west side has lots of people and not a lot of game. We backpack hunted on the eastern side of the state an had lots of fun. Seasons benefitted rifle hunters more I always felt like. Fishing and hiking was great though! Loved the area. Hope that helps.

Check the maps, but I believe most land is private, outside the base. Bunnies were abundant at one time. Deer would be Blacktails. Salmon runs include Coho, Blackmouth (Kings), Sockeye and Sea Run Cuts. Bottom fishing and crabs. Check the WDFG website for seasons. Deception Pass bridge is at the north end, and Edmunds Ferry at the south.
