Kudos to Bear customer service
« on: November 28, 2014, 06:46:00 PM »
I was saddened when my Bear Super Kodiak delaminated on me while shooting in the back yard on October 30.  Absolutely no criticism intended here of Bear as everyone who makes bows has that happen.  What I want to share is that within 30 minutes I had spoken with Zack at Bear customer service and had a return authorization.  On November 3 the broken bow was delivered to the factory in Florida and today--only 25 days later--my new SK was delivered to my door.  She is just as beautiful as the one that broke and shoots even better if anything.  My thanks to Bear for taking good care of me.  Customer service could not have been better.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I broke a latch on my 2014 Take-Down(my fault) and they had a new one to me in a week at no cost even though I told them it was my screw up.

I've heard that in the last few years their service has improved greatly. Which, in my mind is good thing as Bear has always been one of the Hallmarks of traditional archery. Glad they took good care of you.

Customer service is very important to Bear and you can feel the level of concern that is emanated from the employees as you meet them at the plant.
They are absolutely swamped with orders, but they are still taking care of their existing customers. For this reason, it will take a bit longer to get a new bow. 6-8 weeks is or was a standard answer given by bear last year, but that may have to be changed.
I will say however that I have already received about 20 2015 bows so far this year to include some super grizz, regular grizz, ausable, Montana, Kmag, TD limbs and a riser or two.

I have fondled a couple of the super K phenolics and hope to have some soon. I can't imagine how they could shoot better than any of the other SuperK's as they are basically the same thing only with a phenolic riser...if you like the weight, it will be a great thing. They are beautiful. The changes from one of their models to another is basically about personal preferences and not so much about performance improvements...although I would think they may have gained slightly since the 50s/60s.

If we don't have what you want in stock, it is very likely on order and we do have a waiting list for these and all Bear bows.

We place a very large order on the first available day to do so and are often first in line to get the bows do to our history with them. If we run out of the bows that are on order, it "could" be a very long wait on any re-orders.

Deposits are small (I think we have them set at $20)and refundable with advanced notice. This is better than tying a CC up for 6 months while you wait.

We also have taken in a couple hundred close out and missed weight bows at deep discounts. you can find out more about these Bear bows and other bows on or website ...BigJimsBowCompany.com

All Bear bows leaving our facility will be personally inspected by us..usually me. This is necessary, but due to some hysteria, I'm asked to do this most of the time anyway. I will string them and examine them and then re box them. If they are new and regular priced bows, they will also get a BigJims custom string. The 59's will also have a new upgraded leather grip unless you just don't want that.

I had a very long talk with Neil at the plant the day before Thanksgiving. We did the big walk around (I never tire of that). We talked about old and new and some of the up and coming things. I expressed my sentiments and that of others about the strings and they have already made a few changes for the better.

One thing to consider about strings...you can have a serving set up for wood/aluminum arrows or carbon arrows but it can't be both at the same time as the nocks are considerably different. This is probably the biggest problem with their strings. Take that in to consideration when ordering. The Bears come with strings that will work best with wood/aluminum arrows.

Thanks, bigjim
