The one that (almost) got away...
« on: December 13, 2014, 02:19:00 PM »
I have had my eye on this bow for a good while in the classifieds. It has belonged to three different Tradgangers before me, but it's finally mine, and it's not going anywhere else but the woods (and an occasional 3-D shoot).

I barely missed out on it a couple of times in the classifieds, but it finally made it to S. Alabama where it belongs.

RER LXR. Recurve limbs are 62" and 52@28". Longbow limbs are 64" and 54@28". Riser is ziricote (aka Mexican rosewood) and limb lams are koa on the backs and brown glass on the belly. It shoots smooth, fast and quiet. And best of all, since it's about the same specs as my Retro, it was plug-and-play with my current hunting arrows! She's a beaut, and she's going to the woods in the morning! Lucky me.

That's a beautiful bow, but didn't you see the flaw it has before you bought it ?

You have to hold it with the wrong hand !

Best of luck with it.

had two long shooting sessions with it today. most of them sitting, since i'll be hunting out of my ground blind. i honestly didn't think a bow could shoot better than my Retro, which is 58" and 53#@28". man, that extra 4" in the length, and the extra mass in the riser sure did take some of the (little bit) of picky out of my release with the Retro. this thing was just flat out dead on from every distance and every angle.

almost like cheating on a short wife with Long Tall Sally, haha! i felt a little guilty, but we got a hot date tomorrow before sunrise!

special thanks to Dave Pagel for the advice and hockey7 for a super-good deal. no way i'm turning this one loose.

it's a River's Edge (RER) LXR. that's a combination of their XR (recurve) and their LX (longbow). two sets of limbs on the same riser.

check out their webpage. good stuff.
