nock price question
« on: December 17, 2014, 05:57:00 PM »
Why are press in nocks so much more expensive that glue on nocks?  Bohning Classics are $2.75 a dozen and most push in nocks are $8-9 a dozen.  3X more money seems a little excessive.

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder why any of them would be that expensive.

My guess would be the precision fit of the press in nocks. Can't be off by much either way - too big, it won't go in, and too small, it would fall out.
A taper will seat easier if things are a bit off.

The initial cost of the molds would be a little more pricey.
Even the classic nocks have to be somewhat precise.

I don't know, but guess it's all injection molding. A little more material in the push in nocks.

Because people will pay the extra money for them.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Ya know, them trad guys making wood arrows don't have a lot of money. If we make their nocks cost too much those cheap so-and-sos will just cut self nocks in their arrows.
Now those whiz kids using carbon arrows, they've got some bucks, let's get them for all we can.

However there is some truth to that....
The price of nocks is way off in my opinion. Should be pennies on the dollar. Not .60-75 each. Terrible.

I buy them by the hundred. I feel in my mind anyway I am saving a buck or two. Making carbons for others helps me also. My buddy likes white nocks, my son likes orange, so I take the Orange nocks from the GT 35/55 and use for my son. His shafts come with an almost flo green which I trade for flo yellow. As to why they cost more Is any ones guess.
