Hoyt buffalo black out splintering

Had my Hoyt a few months the other day I noticed what looked like a small black broom bristle about two inches long coming of of it. Goes along edge and down middle of top part of limb a few inches below string nocks. I am very careful with it only bring it to range and only have it strung when using it. I am going to Hoyt dealer I got it from this weekend. Is this common for this bow will it keep splintering? Very sad

It can happen to any bow and has happened to me with a vintage Browning as well as an A&H ACS. If it is running down the limb you may be able to epoxy it back down. However if you registered your Hoyt it is warrantied if you don't want to fool with it.

No, not common at all. First one I've ever heard of.

If you have only had the bow a few months, I would try to get new limbs under warranty.

If you were the first owner there's I believe a lifetime warranty. Get yourself a new bow when you go into the shop!

I've got two of them and haven't had a problem, although I notice the limbs tend to ding fairly easily on the edges.  That should be covered under warranty, though.  Limbs do splinter on occassion, it is not unheard of, though I know that doesn't make you feel any better.  I hope they take care of you, good luck.

Hoyt replaced my Buffalo limbs when I had the same problem. My replacement set is now cracking, but no splinters yet, on the bottom limb. I have three sets and for a light weight target set I bought the cheaper wood/glass Hoyt Excel Formulas. I have shot them almost daily with VERY light arrows and they're fine. I've talked to a couple of people who have had Buffalo limb problems and they were with limbs that were the woodgrain as were mine. My 55lb AP CAMO limbs are my oldest and show no signs of a problem.Could be coincidence but that's my experience.

I went to the dealer they said it was just a cosmetic splinter from the outer coating but hoyt should take care of it.
