More Stumpin... This time brought a friend.
« on: January 22, 2015, 03:41:00 PM »
Hey gang,

So the weather this past weekend here in Missouri was gorgeous and the wife and I had the days off so we figured why not go out stumping again. But this time we brought a really close friend of ours and planted the archery seed in his brain. Phil, (our friend) has never spent much time in the woods and this was his first time ever shooting a bow. Well I think it's safe to say he's hooked. He was asking me in the gym this morning when we would be shooting again as he wanted to get back out there and slay some stumps. As I said this was his first time ever even holding a bow and he didn't do half bad, actually better than I was by far when I first started shooting. I like to think it had something to do with my teaching but that would be a lie. I set him up with my first bow and some aluminum arrows and let him go to town. Between he and my wife I think they killed all the stumps out there. So here are some pictures.

Here is the pavilion down at our property where we go camping and BBQ. My wife's grandfather built this pavilion years ago and it's awesome.

Here is Phil pulling back for one of his first shots at a stump and his stance of victory after he hit it.

Here are a few glamour shots of us with our bows and respective targets.

And finally enough pictures of us, here are some pictures of the property and stump stomping grounds. Going to have to do another post as I am at my picture limit. First up is some more of that green moss that is all over the property.

And continuing on. Some pictures of our views as we were walking.

Here are two pictures of a game trail we found while walking that had lots of deer tracks on it. I couldn't tell how fresh they were but there were a lot.

Lastly here was the greatest shot of the day. we found a piece of bark hanging from a dead branch and took shots at roughly 20 yards.

Well those are all the photos we took, hope you guys enjoyed them. I know we had a great time taking them.

Nothing better than getting a friend into this awesome sport.

And again you tease me with that gorgeous Super Kodiak...

I really can't think of any better way to spend a day than this. One lucky guy!

Yeah! Stumping is life. And I simply love the leaf-forests you've got there. Nothing like that over here... They are chopping down all the wood around here this winter, so come spring my hunting grounds are gone...

Awesome, really enjoyed the pics!  I wish we had no snow like you so I could get out stumpin' without losing too many arrows.  And good on you for getting your buddy interested in archery.

The smiles say it all. Short of the excitement of hunting, it's my favorite way to spend time outdoors. Good on ya for introducing a newcomer, and thanks for sharing.

You have a neat looking property and it looks like everyone had fun hiking around it today. Good job of introducing a friend to archery.

This my stumpin partner , he enjoys it more than I do . It's funny how excited he gets when I draw back to take a shot .

Hey guys glad you liked the pics, we enjoy being able to bring you all along with us. I spend so much time on this site enjoying everybody's threads and hunting adventures it's nice to be able to contribute. Heck, even my wife is starting to enjoy this place, I'm always calling her over to the computer or iPad telling her to check things out. Now she usually just peruses this site with me, as she enjoys all the outdoor pictures you guys take and post.

Grapes we really enjoyed that picture of your dog looking at your pretty pink arrows. Thats awesome you can take your dog out with you. Even though they only live for a short time compared to us, it is amazing how much joy and happiness they can bring to a family.

Shreffler if you are ever in our neck of the woods you're  more than welcome to swing by and take the ole SK out for a test drive. I highly recommend sending an older model bow to Jim for a touch up if you are not wanting to keep it in its original condition.

Brian, I will be shooting you a text here shortly, definitely looking forward to linking up and shooting quite a bit this year. It's always great to be able to get together with friends and sling sticks.

As for the rest of you all, we appreciate the comments and are glad you liked them. Phil is definitely hooked and had a great time with us, he keeps asking when we are going to go again and wants to do some camping this summer. Was great to be able to introduce him to this sport. And lastly, yes we have been extremely blessed with our great family and the ability to have a small patch of woods to call our own. Believe me we do not take it for granted.
