Spirit Longbows...Any Pics to Share??
« on: January 23, 2015, 02:16:00 AM »
Hey all,

Does anyone have a SPIRIT longbow that they can post some pics of?  I'd like to see what they look like strung up and unstrung, if possible.
The only pics I have seen of them are close-up shots of the riser.  I can't tell what kind of bow they are from them.  I know they are LONGBOWS, but what kind?
I'd also like to hear more about them.  I know RMS sells them, but I haven't read anything about them.

Can you add anything?

Thanks

Nalajr

I don't have a photo but, I had one and liked it. Mild R/D almost "D" shaped when strung. A good performer and not to hard on the eyes either.

I think several people make bows under that name.  The one I'm familiar with is made by John Strunk, but I have the feeling you're talking about someone else.

He's prolly talking about Spirit Longbows from Bryan Holley  RMSGear is one of his main dealers.  Pretty bows that shoot nice at an affordable price.  I wouldn't hesitate to own one if I saw one in specs I liked.

Yeah it's the one by Holley at RMSGear....

They have several of them for sale and they do look good.  I'd like to know what they look like strung up and unstrung and they don't have those pics on their site and I can't find an online site for Mr. Holley and his bows.  Heck even Google images doesn't have anything.  That's saying something.

Thanks...

Strung they have a typical semi-D profile with a little reflex toward the very tips at brace.  Unstrung they have a middle of the road r/d profile.

I wouldn't call the fact that there aren't many pics a bad thing.  Bryan is one of hundreds of regional bowyers who likely sell far more bows locally than they do on a national scale like some of the makers who have websites and pay for advertising.  Also consider the price new, which is modest in comparison to many of the other 'custom' bowyers out there...these bows are far more likely to be kept than sold as the investment is not near so great as bows that are much higher priced.  Another possibility is that Bryan is just not that prolific...most bowyers have day jobs.  For all we know the bows at RMSGear are the only bows currently available for sale?  That would mean that there are only the ones out there that were sold through that storefront.  Just some things to consider before making an assessment.

Someone mentioned Poison Dart bows, another local CO bowyer.  I'm very intrigued by these for the money, may have to try one.

Nala, in the past I've requested additional pics from RMSG and they've always been happy to oblige.  I know some of the pics I've asked for have been full length strung/unstrung.  Great guys out there in Denver.  And the Holley Spirit does look like a great bow!

Hey Poker,

I sent them an email a couple days ago and haven't heard anything back.  Not making any kind of judgement on that at all.  They could be really busy or shorthanded or any number of things.  Its not really that big of a deal right now.  I am just looking at potential bows to get in that price range and lower and I had never heard of those bows before.  I had been nosing around at the USED longbows at the various sites that I have access to, and someone told me to check out the RMS list and that's how I came upon those bows.
I didn't want to call them and ask them questions cause I didn't want to bother them when I am not ready to buy right this minute.  It might be a month.

I was just wondering if it was a more traditional shaped bow or if it was kinda like a Shrew or a Beeler when strung.

Maybe someone here will pop in with a pic or 2.

Thanks all.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

Calling is better than email, I think Tommy might be hog hunting in Texas right now, that being said, if you call they'll send you pics right away.

There was a similar thread on the "other" site a few days ago and I posted a full picture of my Spirit longbow.  They're great bows!

They sent me a pic last night. Great guy from RMS gear. Told me about the bowyer and so on.
I don't want to give the impression to anyone that I was unhappy with them for anything. I'm not, never was and won't be. I just don't want any mistaken thoughts on this.
They are pretty bows. I just never heard of them before or the bowyer.  Apparently he's a very well liked and respected guy that does most of his sales with RMS gear.
Who knows what I'll end up with in a month from now. Soo many great USED bows out there and some new in my price range. I wish I had money for all of them.

Oh man....BUMMER...

If you email it to me, I'll post it for you.

Or you can upload it to Photobucket and just copy the link for it after you get it uploaded.

Pretty easy using that site.
