I suspect Big Jim would be a source for carbon if you give him a call...at the least he will refer you to someone who is...carbon fibre is used in a lot of manufacturing and I cannot imagine it would be hard to find

X2....Wood is too beautiful and dont like the sound of carbon.  Will always be a wood guy- but do find the white glass on a jdberry very alluring!

On a longbow I could go either way, I like the looks of both, and longbow limbs are stable enough just because of design. With a recurve, I definitely prefer carbon, not because of the speed (although that is a nice side effect) but more for the stiffness and torsional stability. Foam limb cores are good for that too.

I have no problems with the look of carbon fiber. If I did, I could get a snake backing on it just like I could on a fiberglass backed bow.  I have read reports of some people trying carbon backed bows (or double or even triple carbon) and then switching back to glass backed. I wonder why that is?  Is there a different feel to a carbon backed bow they don't like, or do they think is is more finicky than glass backed?  I haven't read any reports where people tried two bows that were identical in all respects other than one being carbon backed, so it is possible that the people who didn't like the carbon backed bow really just didn't like something about the bow itself.  What do YOU think, Cody?

I would like to know what people are referring to with the "sound" of carbon.  I've been shooting a zipper nitro with carbon limbs and it is whisper quiet. I don't love the look of the carbon so I will be skinning the limbs but it performs flawlessly.

Same question as Zbone...where are you getting the cross weave carbon?
PM sent.

They are both 62" and 32#@28".

Curious, anyone using carbon/fiberglass, such as carbon backing with glass belly or visa versa?

Thanx
These bows both have fiberglass bellies.  I sent you a PM about the CF.

Personally I can't really tell a difference between the two.  My chrono shows a few fps gain from the carbon.  In this design they are both SUPER quiet!

Glad you guys like the bows.  Please let me know if I can answer any other questions!

For me, it will always bee the wood...both in veneer and in core.
It is a personal thing as I truly enjoy the look better and there is such a small speed advantage in carbon that it is not worth it. Besides, If I needed that extra 2-8 fps, I didn't shoot well enough to compete to begin with.

I have to admit that the woven carbon has it's appeal in certain situations, but nearly negates it's performance advantage. For every strand on the 90deg plain you gain torsion but nearly no strength with the added weight. In other words, the 0 deg fibers are doing all the work with no torsional gain and the 90's are doing all the torsional...thus twice the mass with half the cast.
