Chronographed Recurves Today...
« on: October 03, 2007, 08:29:00 PM »
I chronographed my recurves today and thought I would post up the numbers for anyone who might be interested.

My draw is 28-28.5 inches, shooting was done with a Big Shot Glove 4 feet from the chronograph.  All bows are set up with either Qiviuts or Beaver Balls, Bow Hushes, and tie-in nock points. The recorded velocity is the average of 5 shots.

These three bows are set up with T-300 rests. The arrow I use with them is a 30" 2413, 4" vanes, 125 grain point for a total weight of 525 grains.

60" CM H2 53#@28": 188 FPS
60" Kota Prairie Swift 55#@29": 181 FPS
58" CM H1 51#@28": 178 FPS

I shoot my Hunter 56 off the shelf with a rug rest, arrow is 30" 2413 4" LW feathers, 125 grain point for a total weight of 515 grains.
I was surprised with how quick that little H56 is!

56" CM H56 50#@28": 185 FPS

I'm expecting a 55#@28" K-Mag tomorrow or Friday, and I'll chrony that when I get it set up.

It will be interesting to see if the more powerful K Mag can out shoot the other three. That 56" CM is a winner in the fps department.

That's a bit surprising as the H56 doesn't have a reputation as a particulary zippy bow. I knew from shooting it was getting the arrow downrange in good shape, I just never knew how good it was.

I have a 58" H2 riser on order on which I'm going to try the H56's limbs.  Going to find out if it's the limbs or the overall design accounting for the performance...
