My problem is once I get away from the butt heads I'm waist deep in ticks.
Butt heads being the people that stalks your calling or worse. Not trying to sound bitter but have had a few bad experiences. Be careful and post your fl. orange if required.

I have some public ground where I have taken a couple of turkeys. Unlike lots of you folks, when hunting turkeys on this particular place, I have never seen another hunter. I only go there mid week, but not huge amounts of people hunt turkeys in Wyoming. This place is within 20 minutes of my house, so it is pretty handy. Most of my turkey hunting is on private land within 5 minutes of the house, but it is fun to hunt the public land, too.

Them merriam are by far the prettiest turkeys centaur, some claim they are the easiest.
I beg to differ took me 7 trips to Nebraska to get one, seems like they are nomads they got it in there mind they are going some where and they go and if your not in the route than ur not playing !!

I'm prouder of this turkey than either of the deer I shot with trad gear I believe and I post a picture every chance I get;-) There is pretty good opportunity for public land turkeys here in Colorado if you play the preference points game and the mountain Merriams you chase every year without preference points but man that's a tough game!

I do all of my turkey hunting on public land here in Michigan and everywhere I go. I have taken birds with bow and boomstick, I love the challenge of hunting pressured birds. Having to work them differently and scouting the habits.bis it spring yet!!!????
