17" DAS Dalaa riser with 45# long Dalaa recurve limbs making a 62" bow. I pull 28.5". Shooting off a T300 rest with a TT Shorty plunger. String will be a tenringstrings Rhino 12 strand with 4 Bow Jax II string silencers.

Now, I have some GT Traditional Hunters 3555's that are cut 29.5" BOP. What tip weight do you all recommend without getting into all that EFOC stuff that just confuses me?   :D  I want to get great flight and penetration. Anyone shooting a similar setup?

175's are working for me at 30" draw and a full length 35-55. shooting around 45#

If you like brass inserts, try 100's with 125-175 grain heads screwed into them.  With that plunger, you should be able to make all those wts tune using centershot and or spring tension.

Thanks Tim, I've already got the standard aluminum inserts installed. Looking to go with what I've already got on the arrows. Should I just up the tip weight?

Exactly. Then tweak it with the 2 adjustments, based upon which head wt. you like best.

Sorry, but I just don't understand it.  With a similar setup, I would be shooting the 29.5" 3555 with a 125 grain tip or broadhead.  That's what I get when I bareshaft.  With the setups the other guys are recommending, my bareshaft would register way weak.  If I wanted to shoot a heavier point, I would have to go to a stiffer shaft, like a 5575 GT.

You wouldn't be wrong, Dave- It's what works for your setup/release etc.  In my personal experience I can tune a very wide range of head wts, when paired with a plunger's centershot adjustment and spring tension. I cannot do this as well off the shelf.

With the lighter wt heads, I just adjust the plunger away from the arrow more, and adjust toward the arrow for heavier heads.  Then tweak with spring tension and/ or brace ht. if needed.

Many, many variable come into play, affecting differences b/t each setup/shooter.  It's just easier for me with a plunger, although I don't use one now. I like a shelf

Are you just going to hunt deer with the setup? a little light for elk here in Oregon.

Yes, deer and smaller. Don't hunt elk anymore since I hunt alone and really don't know where to go.

I would try and get a point test kit. Just reading the comments so far reaffirms what I have seen so many times. What works for me or you or next guy may never be the same.

Would believe that a 145 gn point would be close.

Proper side plate adjustment would have those 125 gn pts flying, however you would already be trodding in the lower range hunting arrow weights per my own preference.

I'm with McDave and Friend, 125's should be perfect. This is very close to my set up on my Das/Winex rig.

The string is the thing that will make the most difference in tuning...until you have it and shoot bareshaft with it you will have no idea where you are at...I tuned my Kodiak Deluxe a while ago with its new BCY-X string and was sure that 2117's would tune...even with 125 grain points they were way weak...that bow, 46 pounds at my draw length, would not tune with any less spine than .340 (Full Metal Jacket)...and great flight and penetration is more about tuning than it is about arrow weight...a heavy arrow poorly tuned leaves you nowhere of value
