New Record Keeping Club
« on: February 04, 2015, 07:11:00 PM »
Some folks over on an elk forum are thinking about starting a new club:

With all the attention given to bigger bucks and bulls and the hype that goes with them, some folks are forgetting to have fun and enjoy the hunt.

Here is a refreshing new outlook////

Pope & Young Club / nope

Boone & Crocket Club / nope

Spoon and Crock Pot Club / YEP
It's a good day for something.

Sounds tasty. I would be a world record holder several times over on the last one! I look to eat em. Good stuff.

Heh. I have several animals that I'm told would make "book".
Im not knocking it for others, but it's not for me. I have a spikehorn that is as impressive to me as my biggest buck due to the hunt and challenge he gave me.
One particular cow elk gave me the hunt and challenge of my life.
She wouldn't have made a record book, but she made mine! And the crock pot....yeah, that's the club I'd like to be in.

"minimum score, dinner for four"....that's awesome tater.....

I want to kill a big elk someday but first I'll be happy to kill ANY elk with my bow.  I haven't been yet but am making preliminary plans for 2017.

Same thing goes with deer.....so much emphasis on inches and age.  I'm an official measurer for for Missouri Show Me Big Bucks Club and Archery Big Bucks of Missouri so don't get me wrong I appreciate a big rack...  :D  but it's sure nice to go hunting and not worry about size or age.  Shoot what makes ya happy at the moment!!!!

I have book animals as well and a few also that didn't make it that hurt and as I know the hunts not in the paper. If you measure the hunt by the paper that says you make it we aren't out there for the same reason many of us.

Many fellows don't even know what they shot until someone says so thats up on measurements.

I was told one animal would make and they took me to the measurer and the guy looked at and even said it should make it nope it didn't was measuered 3 times and it didn't make it by 1 5/8 thats pretty close but no segar.

I was told some guys would have sanded down points to get it in. Really so sad.

Another time had a 9 point with a drop tine and was told by a differant measurer that some would break off the drop tine. You got to be kidding me what a glue it back on. Yup so sad.

Thats just a couple things. If the animals were counted full it would rule all that nonsence out.

The hunts the trophy and the animal is a blessing.
