Bear draw weight designations

This has probably been answered elsewhere, but I have a 75 Kodiak Hunter with a draw weight shown as X45. I understand that means it is actually less than 45 lb. We measured it at about 43 lb @ 28". I've seen another bow with 45XX,meaning that it is more than 45 lb. Does the X stand for any particular weight? Or does 2 Xs just mean "more than 1 X"?

Usally the correct weight is marked under the side plate.A X45 would be 44#,in front it is less.45XX would be 47#,1# per X more woud make it 2# more.Alot of older recurves like Ben Pearson used a similar marking,and the true weight was under the side plate.

Think roman numerals.  IX means 9 and XI means 11.  That always helps me remember how it works.

An x before the number means less than the number. An x after the number means more. And JRY is right. The actual weight is often marked under the side plate.

I would interested to see what it actually scales.
I found most Bears to run heavier than indicated.
