Farr West Leather is going to OJAM!
« on: February 17, 2015, 12:56:00 PM »
Yes, it still a month away, but we are very excited about heading over to Oklahoma for OJAM this year!  We will have a lot of quivers, Armguards, and other items, some of which haven't been put on here.
Looking forward to meeting and putting faces with some of the folks we interact with on here, but haven't had the opportunity to meet!
Thanks,
Tim

After searching my stash of osage and it is was apparent another road trip is needed before starting my trade bow over on the Bowyers Bench.  Mark Baker and I were talking and he is low on the good yellow wood too, he suggested we make the trip to OJAM next month.  Well the weather has to be better than Missouri in July and we can get some staves sooner (pun intended).  So the old F250 diesel is headed south in three weeks in hope of bringing some yellow gold back to the bow wood desert of Montana.  If you are attending OJAM stop by the camp and visit for awhile.  If you have a stock pile of Osage, and are looking to trade/sell some, bring it and let me know what you need.  Our goal is to get enough osage that a rental trailer is needed to haul it home in addition to what fits in the truck bed.  I know, I'm dreaming, but what the heck, we are going to OJAM and will have fun regardless.

Tim, see you there, we should arrive Friday morning.

I think I'll be able to make it this year. I might even have a stick or two of hedge to spare...   :)

I stopped by Mark's place today and we started to plan what to bring for trading materials to OJAM.  I am leaning towards bringing beaver tails and sinew.  The beavertails were all trapped here in Montana.  All of the sinew is long (14"-24") back sinew from either elk or bison.  Not only do you get a little extra Mo-Jo with the sinew coming from elk or bison, it is about ten times faster to process.  Also, being up to two feet long it is a lot faster to apply.  I am sure somebody sells elk sinew, I think I seen it for sale once or twice.  I have never seen bison sinew for sale, so this can be your chance to get some.

Anyway, that is my initial thoughts, what else might those of you with the yellow wood be looking for?

Since Walt brought up trading stuff, I am also bringing some obsidian from Oregon to trade for some of the yellow wood...
Thanks,
Tim
