cool hog picture from a trail camera
« on: February 27, 2015, 11:58:00 AM »
I got this picture in my email this week. I thought it was pretty incredible timing for the game camera:

Shot looks just a little too high. Terry/Joe, recognize the spot?

Yep....Gumbo.

Is that an arrow in that hog?...if so, yes, it looks a little high.

What's the story?...any more info?

It is Gumbo, and that is an arrow about to hit that boar on the right! 5 guys were there for 3 days and they got 4 shots including the one above. Considering they basically lost a day to tracking hogs, I thought that was pretty darn good.

One guy took home a nice young boar around 120 pounds, I haven't seen a picture of it yet. Should be darn tasty; nice size, short recovery, cold night, etc.

The one in this picture is now wiser than he was before. If you think about   this story  from the same stand a few weeks ago, it could be a very smart pig before the next guy gets another chance at him!

It's my new background on my work computer. I have been using a pic of the river with SC on the right and GA on the left. It's my escape when things get a bit crazy in the office.

Hey Thom, I got you something today. See you in a couple weeks!

Cool pic...

From the reaction of the other hogs that are already running, I'd have to say that arrow has struck and the hog is running with it like Terry eluded to.

I like the timestamp, but not the tempature!

Curt, I was considering the same thing, if that is true this was a close call he will clearly learn from.

Dave, we'll try to leave a few for ya! I'll send you the full size image for your screensaver in a few.

Two weeks....

Neat picture.  I often put my trail cameras in video mode and wait till I see the IR light up before shooting.  It is a neat perspective on filming a hunt.

Thank for sharing that pic.
