What's an inch do

I have been shooting full length Beman ICS Hunters from the start.  Not sure why but I have just tuned my arrows with weight.  These arrows are pretty much point on at 20 yards.  I do not  shoot point on but now trying to extend my yardage.  Thinking it may be advantages to move my point back to give me a reference at distance.  I have 2" to work with.  What will 1" shorter in arrow length do for my point on?

Shortening carbons really stiffens the arrow quick.

That inch cant be put back on once it is off. If your having good arra flight id just leave well enough alone.

If your arrow is tuned don't mess with it. Change you anchor point.

with carbons,I let my tuning determine the length it needs to be.Length is not a factor with carbons.Aluminum and wood have many more spine choices then carbons.

Boy that's a tough one to pull off getting the right length arrow & weight tuned to the bow without having an adjustable rest.

But to answer your question, a shorter arrow will extend your point on distance. How much 1" will change it, depends on your arrow speed. But it could take you to 25-30 yard point on.

That's what I'm going for around 30 yards or better yet 35.

Tony....I think Rod Jenkins told me that one inch is equal to roughly 10 yards but that's certainly not concrete.

If you have a high anchor it will make virtually no difference, if you have a low anchor it will make a huge difference. Too many variables to make a concrete comment on the question.

I went the other way from 28,5" to 30.5" and point on went from 45 yards to 35 yards, same anchor.

I suspect you will have to play with weight up front because 1" will really stiffen them up.

30 or 35 is cool if that's what you want. I take it you are shooting 3 under?... You can also fudge your string nock a bit higher to fine tune it and extend it a bit more.....

Lust don't get too carried away with nock adjustment and sacrifice good arrow flight for a long point on...

Some guys adjust their brace height to tune for arrow spine too and get away with it if it isn't too radical.....But if you get out of the recommended brace area you loose power and get more noise.... It's all trad offs brutha...

I shoot 3 under and have been playing around with different arrow lengths as I've been tuning and playing with my form. Here's what I've observed. The shortest arrows I've shot are 29.5" and I'm point on at from about 19-22 yards. My full length 32" shafts give me a point on from about 13-15 yards. I've played around with 31" shafts and they shoot just about the same as the 32's.

oooops!  What happened there?

You may need to consider an elevated rest to get you where you want to be, or change your anchor point a bit.
