Blind Robin Hood or a Whisper?
« on: March 07, 2015, 11:47:00 AM »
Is there such a phrase as "Blind Robin Hood"?
Because today I went outside to shoot for first time in 2 months and was having fun shooting at my Rhino 18-1 target with a bow that I just bought at the Kalamazoo show from Steve at Northern Mist.  An all Elm Whisper.  In fact this was first time shooting it outside.  No kidding here...last arrow and last shot before going in I let her fly and after a shot abpout 2 inches above the other arrow I heard "wahack" and saw a nock go flying.  I went up there and found this:

  ]web page[/URL]

Now when I first got this target I lost a few glue on field points from my woodies in the target when I pulled them out.  This obviously was one of them.  I drilled it dead center and it was on there tight.  The force is what sent the nock flying of this arrow.

First question...obviously weird and luck, but kinda cool. Anyone ever had this happen to them?

Second question...I have a verbal sale on this bow and was giving her a few last shots before selling her....Yes, you know what I am thinking.
DID I HEAR A WHISPER?  SAYING KEEP ME?  Please Help me think this through.  What would you do?

Yes, I have done that myself and yes, you probably did hear a whisper saying "Look how great I perform for you, and you're gonna get rid of me?"   :knothead:
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I guess it kind of depends on your background and the terms of the "verbal sale". If it was one of those "If you ever decide to sell this one...." type of offers, then I guess maybe you ought to reconsider.

If it was a firm offer and you agreed to sell? Well, I learned in high school business law class nearly 60 years ago that a verbal offer is just as valid as a written one - just harder to prove. There's also the traditional "handshake", whether verbal or literal that means different things to different people.

Guess you get to decide whether that was a fond farewell from your bow, just letting you know your bow thinks you screwed up by offering to sell it, or whether you REALLY should not sell that bow under any circumstances!

Just one more major decision 'ya gotta make for yourself   :)

A long time ago I shot into a target butt at local range. Pulled out arrow with a broadhead attached. In those days we used to pull arrows with one hand on target with arrow shaft between fingers. For some reason I did not that time so avoided a nasty cut.

I think the bow is talking to you.....but a deal is a deal.  I only hope that the person is understanding if you have to back out.
Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.

Well the tradgang member with the verbal was very understanding.  In fact he even said he was really wanting a 68" and my 66" with the attitude could stay in the stable.  So I think that means it worked out for both of us.

Sometimes you just need to know who to listen to. Sounds like your bow made a pretty impressive presentation   :)

I've had that happen numerous times . I have several tips in my target and I can hear that I hit them from time to time. Robin Hoods like splitting a shaft or nock to me are not a Robin Hood unless you intentionally tried to do it  other wise its just an accident.

That was a sign from the Spirit of Robin Hood

We live in the present, we dream of the future, but we learn eternal truths from the past
When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.
Life is like a wet sponge, you gotta squeeze it until you get every drop it has to offer

So that is what it was...
Look at Sir Robin's camo pattern I think I spotted him in my yard the other night shooting at my target.  I can't be sure though...
