ILF Question
« on: March 11, 2015, 11:12:00 AM »
Hi there, fellow archers,
I have a Hoyt Excel 21" riser, and a Morrison that is some 19.5"
A set of Winact limbs 38lbs - 28" draw/70" bow and a set of border Hex Vs same specs.

I have been shooting, and shooting well with the Border limbs on the Excel, but my son now turns 11, and his 48" Samick is to small - i got him a set of SF Axiom + limbs - 22lbs/28" on 66" bow, and my Hoyt Excel. They may be on the heavy side right now, but he enjoys, and shoots OK.

So i took the Morrison, and the Winacts, and yeay that was heavy... I can shoot it well for like 12 arrows, which do not cut it for training. I took the Excel and the Axiom limbs and proceeded to shoot very good, for me - and now for the questions...

I have a set og Axiom + limbs that are 26lbs, but they are short limbs, make a 66" bow on a 252 riser, so will be like 60" on the Morrison. I draw 29"-ish, or even a tad further.
Can i use the short SF limbs and draw them 29-30? Will they take the bending? Now worst case i can live with breaking the <100$ limbs, but better if i dont? Thoughts?

Alternatively i can buy some 25" ,or a 21 or 23", riser, olympic style, or whatever, not too expensive. Put the Winacts or the Borders on it and be happy forever after, but which? Anye advice? Anyone try the Spigarelli Revolution?

Ideally, i'd buy Morrisons longbow limbs, but then there is the $$$ matter.

The shorts will be too short on the Morrison riser for your 30" draw.

Most ILF mediums are not recommended for a 30" draw.  I am at 29" and although the medium limbs are OK for my draw, I do better with longs.
In my experience, always better to go with longer limbs.  If you want a shorter bow, go with a shorter riser.
A set of longs on a 15" riser will give you the same 60" bow but will feel a whole lot better.
