Any Good Deals on Hunting Arrows?
« on: March 21, 2015, 06:33:00 AM »
Hey all.

I need to pick up some arrows to hunt with. I shoot 500 spine and shoot both carbon and aluminum arrows.

Just thought I'd ask and see if you all know of any good deals out there right now.

Thanks.

Hey Nala, we don't have any of the wood grain blems in stock at this time, but we do have a few camo blems and also the gold tip xt closeouts (nearly same price). We will custom fletch these for you if you like.

thanks, bigjim

The last few years, I've bought all my Carbon Express Heritage shafts from Big Jim.  He always has the best prices!

I am fond of Gold Tip Traditionals, blems if they are in stock or regular ones if not.  These perform well and give a very appealing look with a trad bow.

I use 100gr inserts and foot mine with aluminum shafting.  This makes them crazy strong for stump shooting and small game hunting while bringing my EFOC higher and still allowing me to use a 125 gr tip (so I can use field points, Judo's, small game heads, and broadheads that are all exactly the same weight).

I'll also throw in that I pick up the cheap carbons from Wal-Mart every year as they go on sell then foot them with a touch of aluminum shafting.  These are my loaner/beater/trash them arrows.  I just got two yesterday on clearance for $1/arrow.  Even after refletching them with feathers (after the veins wear down) and footing them they'll come in at less than $3/shaft.  That's pretty cheap for a few arrows that you know will be abused.

I buy 2 dozen of those Wally World carbons every year for 3 bucks a piece. Fletch em, and foot em. They are stiffer than my 400 spine carbons but, shoot with them just fine once fletched. They make great beaters.

I try and support the average joe when I buy and in this case it will be the average Big Jim.  His blems are the real deal and about the same price as those wally world arrows.  Top shelf service and postage rates.

I shoot Big Jim's blems and I just ordered a dozen more .400 the other day. I'm not one for buying cheap beater arrows cause I like to shoot the same arrow that I hunt with so come deer season there are no surprises.
