Longbow Resin finish
«

So I have been doing something bad since I have owned my longbow (6 years) I have always stored the bow in the corner of the room standing up. Apparently that is a no, no and I didn't know that until I was reading some posts on the forum and yall were talking about that. Well I noticed that the tip of the bottom limb appeared to have the resin rubbed off completely and was slightly rough to the touch
. I was wondering if anyone knew how to restore the resin or if the damage is done and just stick to waxing the bow religiously?

You could dab on a small amount of polyurethane with a cloth. Tru Oil would work very well.

I'm sure you've already picked up on this, but the reason you don't stand the bow up for storage is not because it will wear the tip. The entire weight of the bow resting on the thinnest part of it will also cause a warp in the limb it's resting on.

More so with recurves than longbows, but still not a good idea. Depending on the finish, satin or gloss poly or Tru-oil. Easy to fix, a scuffed-up bottom limb tip is probably the most common bow damage.

i store all my wood/glass longbows strung up to their working brace height, held horizontal on a wall rack by their strings.
buff out that rough finish area with some 4/0 steel wool then give it a few light coats of sally hansens "hard as nails" nail polish. yer good to go.

Like Rob says plus you could use any cheap super glue. Put a drop on after the smoothing process and swipe it smooth with one swipe. Let dry and recoat until you are happy.
