Hill Style bows opinions

I have a Robertson Primal styk 66" 56@28". I know it isn't exactly a Hill style bow but it handles my 30" draw pretty well. How short can I go with a Hill style bow with my 30" draw and not have stacking or finger pinch?

I would not go less than 68".

I agree I would not go shorter then a 68",would probably get a 70" in a Hill style with a 30" draw.

My actual draw is between 29 3/4 and 30" just didn't think it was worth cutting hairs to say almost 30". Thanks

I draw 29" and in my bows from HHA I have found I prefer the feel of the 70" bow (I have tried 66" 68" and 70" bows from HHA)

I have a 67" (n2n) ASL style bow I built this winter.  I draw 30.5" and this one feels great for me.  No string pinch etc.  A lot depends also on the type of bow you are talking.  A fiberglass backed bow will allow much more rigorous use, while a no glass BB bow might be a bit more picky about long draws.

Longer would better, nothing less than 68" IMO.  I draw 27.5" and shoot a 66" and definitely feel the difference between my Hill and other RD bows I have...it all has to do with string angle i.e. the angle between the string and limb at the tips.

A longer bow for me gives me an illusion of a lesser draw weight. Maybe because the "draw" is smoother? My HH style is 68 in and I draw 27 now days.

You could go with a reverse grip and go down to 66". If your Robertson has some shape to the grip, like mine do, even though the Hill grip can be deeper, the change in your grip can slightly effect your draw length. You may also find that a Hill will require a softer spine pound for pound, although with a quicker Hill style bow with a slight bit deeper arrow shelf, they will be very close to the same.
My son also shoots Robertsons, he went from Hills to a Pete George to a McDonnald then to  Robertsons. I was in the process of buying him one of the new Schulz bamboos, he absolutely did not want one, nor does he want one of the new Hills.

Depends on the maker. For example I have one made by Jim belcher he assure me 66" would be fine at my draw. And it is. Same w a james berry. 66" works great. I have one on order from David miller and it will be 69" I guess small differences in limb geometry make a difference

I shoot a 60 inch string follow foreward riser EagleWing Frontier with a true straight limb that is 60 inches. 28 in draw. No problem . With this limb combined with a foreward riser you could easily shoot a 64 inch bow with no stack.
