Actionwood Limb Cores
« on: April 27, 2015, 02:23:00 PM »
Well, I once owned a bow with actionwood limb cores and loved the feel, speed and manners from them. I have now shot another one from a different bowyer with AW cores and it had the same characteristics. I am wondering if anyone else with experience with AW cored bows is finding the same thing?

Don't know about the AW? All mine have bamboo cores. I say if you like "the feel, speed and manners from them", then by all means, go for it!

Tom,

All of my Schafers have the standard core and I do believe it is actionwood and I love the feel of them as well as manners and speed.

AW cores are some of the best.  I have several with AW and Bamboo.  I cant really tell the difference.

AW makes a nice bow fore sure and it was very consistent. To bad it does not exist any more.

I have bows with maple, bamboo and action-boo. All great Bows IMO and I cannot feel anything too varying between them.

I'm a fan of bamboo, I like the feel and the performance. I do have a made for me Stalker Coyote recurve with static tips. It has some kind of action wood or something like it. It performs very well and has the "feel" I like.

Stalker bows by South Cox still lists it as a riser and core wood in his new catalog......   :dunno:

My own builds are 66" to 68" ASL style.  Some actionwood, some maple and some elm.  Shooting them interchangeably, they are indistinguishable.
