Need Some Help
« on: April 27, 2015, 06:40:00 PM »
I shoot a couple different bows, all within 5lbs of draw.  I shoot an old Tigercat at 43#, a Grizzly at 45# and a Montana at 50#.  The wooden arrows I have been shooting do pretty well out of all three bows.  So I found a good deal on a LNIB Super Grizzly GG 45# at 64" last winter.  I tried the same cedar arrows I have been using out of the other bows and oddly enough they behave like they are over spined which to me is counter intuitive.  The SK s faster, has a FF string and should make the arrows behave more or less under-spined instead, correct?.  I am getting wide left grouping and a clank off the rider with evidence of this about an inch in front of the fletch at release.  My grouping was non-existent.  Usually at 20 yards I can hold a decent 8-10" group.  I couldn't keep the arrows on the backstop 1 out of every 6 shots.

The arrows are 32" long(my draw is 30 1/2") with 5" shied cut LW feathers.

My next issue is the Bateman tab I have been using lately isn't working.  The tip of my index finger on the side adjacent to my middle finger is getting tore up for some reason.  Its causing me to pluck the string which is exagerating my above issues.

Hmmmm.  You're right, if anything, they should be weak.  Might the brace height on your Super Griz be too low.  That could cause the arrows to ricochet off the riser.

Re the tab.  You just might have the order reversed, i.e., perhaps you unknowingly started plucking, which in turn has lead to your fingers getting raked.  Finger pinch with the longer bow shouldn't be a problem.

Difficult to say what's going on.  Hope you work it out.
