« on: May 29, 2015, 10:36:00 PM »
Well I put in for deer and elk.. the results of the Colorado draw came out today.... I drew zip-- nada-- nothing.  I should move...
I will get an over the counter elk tag so I'll suck my thumb for awhile then get out there scouting new areas... good luck all to you all.

We drew the elk tag we like again this year, should of drawn it last year but it went from a zero point minimum to draw to a one point minimum to draw last year, curious to see what it took to draw this time around for a minimum. Knew I wouldn't draw the deer tag I wanted but did draw list B third rifle doe tag. Hopefully we fill an elk tag and I'll try to get the deer with my bow instead of gun! If we get two elk, I'll just turn the deer tags back in.

I burned up my preference points and drew a tag in unit 40.  Really looking forward to that one!

I drew my elk tag 3rd time was a charm. Did NOT draw my deer tag but I really wasn't expecting to.  Julie didn't draw ANYTHING. which I was bummed at and not even sure how that happened she should have gotten her deer tag but oh well. Well do an OTC rifle tag for her second season.

We do have a plan Mark. Will be going with an outfitter.  He's a local rancher who has some good private ground up there.

Drew a bull elk after striking out last year. No deer though.  Bringing my camera along to get some pictures of all the deer and cow elk I'm sure to see!

Whip- Is the rancher's name Lawson or Larson or something like that?

Right Jason.  Mike Lawson.  Do you know anything?  Good or bad, I'd love to hear.
So far all I've heard is good.

I've been OTC elk the last couple years, it'll be the same this year. Haven't gotten the chance to figure out GMU's to put in for! I'm slackin. Drew my either sex mule deer though in the same OTC area I hunt  ;)  also drew 1st rifle bull, first time with my 45-70 Henry, open sights.

Whip- AWESOME place with GIANT bulls. They took at least one, but I am thinking two 400+" bulls off of there last year!

I was surprised to have drawn a 75 4th season cow.  I'll still bow hunt bears in September and I'll get to try for another longbow doe come December.  I'm building pronghorn points for an 82 archery tag here in a few years. Its going to be a great fall, I just have to put up with the heat until it gets here.
