I just wanted to share my experience with fellow tradgangers involving surewood shafts...about a month ago I ordered a set of surewood shafts in a 50-55lb spine. I've shot carbons for about the last 2 years now but wanted to switch over to wood, there is just something about a wood arrow in flight and building your own arrows adds that much more enjoyment to this sport that we all so much love. I've shot wood before but have never been impressed with the product I received for several reasons, never ordered with surewood before. Anyways I received my 50-55lb surewoods in a few days after ordering them. I had second guessed my decision in the 50-55lb selection (was worried they would be too weak for my set up) and regretted not ordering a stiffer spine. The arrows came but I decided to contact surewood to see if I could send them back and up my spine. I called Bob at surewood, left a message and within 3 hours Bob called me back and told me to go ahead and send them back and they would switch them for a stiffer spine. Before sending them back I spun test them and weighed them just out of curiosity...I couldn't believe how straight they were...that dozen arrow set was within 6 grains too! I sent them back with a check for $12 for return shipping and after about a week had another set in a stiffer spine. It turned out Bob had sent me parallel shafts on the second time instead of tapered. I contacted him and he apologized for the mistake and I sent them back. He mentioned about making up for the mistake but I told him that it was not a problem and not to worry, I was just glad he was working with me on getting what I wanted! About a week later I got my new arrows and again the straightness was superb and all arrows were within 6-7 grains! But not only that I was given 2 extra shafts and was told not to worry about the $12 return shipping and that they wouldn't cash my check! Great service from them!
After a few days I finally had a few arrows stained, sealed, and fletched. They turned out absolutely beautiful, showing distinct, dark grain lines. I started with one arrow and after finding what length worked for my setup, the arrow was flying like a dart and hitting right where I wanted it to! In the past, I've had trouble getting two wood arrows to perform exactly the same way, or match up. I went in, cut another arrow to the exact same length and fletched it up. Not sure what to expect, I went back outside and was pleasantly surprised that my second arrow performed exactly like that of the first! It too flew like a dart and hit right where I wanted it to. After a month now, I have half a dozen arrows made up and all arrows fly like darts and are very accurate for me. I couldn't be happier and thanks to surewood for both a superb product and great service!
