Could my ex wife catch it?
Ok seriously. Any sickness that kills a deer herd is a bad thing to me.

I'm not sure if you're experiencing CWD (chronic wasting disease) in your area, but it's something to definately research. It's destroying herds all across the Northwest.

Whichever disease it is, it's an indication of something else being wrong in general. Whether it be that the deer are losing their habitat, the climate cycle is different, the area is overpopulated with deer (a BIG problem), deer are overlapping with cattle, the local chemical plant is affecting the water, a farmer has used just too damn much chemicals on his field, etc. Take a look at what has changed in your area.

It is EHD and it is a virus spred by biting midges.

Haven't heard a lot about it in Central or back in the Eastern part...
Although... I thought "deer farms" were suspected to be a hot source in some of the earlier Great Lake's outbreaks???
If so, we've got lots of guys raising deer for whatever..keeping penned deer (with permits) and elk farms.
Gives me the willies...
